Every chef has a secret, be it an ingredient, a spice combination or a technique they employ that they feel gives their dishes an edge. Fennel pollen is one such ingredient. And, of course, I had to experiment with it. My latest at Digital Dads.

Inspiration is a funny thing, you never know when it is going to strike. While prepping to cook my home cured beef brisket I wondered whether or not anyone had ever made a burger out of corned beef. Unable to find the answer to my question online I decided to just make my own Corned Beef Burgers, my latest at Digital Dads.

My first @gapingvoid print

Back when Hugh MacLeod published his first book, Ignore Everybody, I was excited to read it as I had been following his blog gapingvoid for some time. The ideas in the book were so liberating, and in some ways confirming the decision I made to end my finance career and focus on my family while planning for the future, that I wrote a post about it – Taking back my crayons.

When the release for his second book, Evil Plans, was scheduled I went and pre-ordered it without a second thought. Not long after Hugh offered a free print related to the book to the first 500 people that responded to his offer. Thankfully, I made the cut and can’t wait to get this on my wall.

In time I hope to pick up a few more of his prints, but in the mean time I’m looking forward to reading Evil Plans soon.

Caution: Introvert Blogging

Welcome to my digital home.  My name is PJ Mullen and I am a stay at home dad, husband, amateur chef, wannabe author, blogging fool, football fanatic, prolific air drummer and professional failure.  This is kind of an experiment for me to bundle together the other blogs and social networking sites with which I am currently using.

My main blog that I update regularly is Real Men Drive Minivans and is the chronicle of my life as a stay at home dad.  I am also working on an “open contributor” blog on fatherhood to be title The Dad Project, which is still very much a work in progress.

I hope at some point to utilize this site as more than just a launch point for my other online activities, but I appreciate you stopping by to my little corner of the net.

If you are on Twitter, you can follow me @pjmullen.
